The FinPod Card - Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

What is a FinPod Card?

FinPod Card is a reloadable Visa prepaid card. It allows you to store value, send money to your children, reward your children’s tasks and enable you and your children to pay for purchases.

Together with the FinPod App, you can organize family tasks, rewards, pocket money and entertainment for your children. You can also oversee children’s spending and set limits for certain shopping categories. Your children will be able to practise healthy money management anytime, anywhere at home or on the move.

Where can I and my children use the FinPod Cards?

Both the Parent and Child Card can be used at any location where Visa is accepted, including online and in-store purchases, both local and overseas. The FinPod Cards can also be used for FPS payment.

However, certain usage restrictions will be set to ensure safety, such as prohibiting transactions at casinos, selling weapons, drugs etc. For more details, please refer to the FinPod Card T&Cs.

How can I apply for a FinPod Card?

Simply log-in to the FinPod App, go to the “Account” section, click “Create FinPod Card” and follow the instructions on screens. You’ll need to conduct a first-time fund-in of HK$50 as the initial stored value for your FinPod Card.

How many Parent and Child Card(s) can I apply for?

At this stage, each Parent can only apply for one Parent Card and one Child Card, where the Child Card will be issued on behalf of the Parent. (You may apply for more Child Cards when you upgrade to a higher membership tier which we will introduce later, stay tuned!)

Any age requirement for a Child Card?

It is recommended that a FinPod Card is to be issued to a Child who is 6 or above at the time that the Parent initially applies for the Child to be a Cardholder.

How can I check the FinPod Card balance?

You can log into the FinPod app to check the card balance. Parents can view the balance of both the Parent and Child Cards, while children can only view the balance of the respective card.

How can I top up a FinPod Card?

You can top up your Parent Card by making a local transfer from a bank in Hong Kong. The Bank Code and Card Number details can be found under the “Top Up” section in your FinPod App.

You can top up a Child Card by making a transfer from the Parent Card. You can also schedule a transfer or set repeated transfers to send money to your child.

Can I withdraw money from an ATM?

Currently we only offer virtual Cards. We will introduce physical cards in short. ATM withdrawal service will be available when the physical card is launched. Stay tuned!

Why would my FinPod Card transaction get declined?

The most common reason is insufficient balance. Always ensure you have sufficient amounts available in your card balance before making a transaction.

Other possible reasons that a transaction may get declined:
- The card limits have been exceeded - The card is locked, suspended, or canceled (refer to the Limits Table for details);
- The card has expired.
- The security credentials for transaction authentication were entered incorrectly.
- The spending category of the transaction is restricted due to security or other reasons.
- The transaction was rejected by the merchant or any third party, which falls outside the control of FinPod and ePayLinks.

Why do I receive SMS or other notifications from Global Cash / ePayLinks?

FinPod Card is issued and operated by ePayLinks Technology Co., Ltd (“ePayLinks”), a third-party Store Value Facility license holder (License Number: SVF0011), regulated by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

“Global Cash” is a brand under ePaylinks. You may receive communications related to your FinPod Card from ePayLinks or Global Cash.

The payment of my online purchase shown in the FinPod App is slightly different from the merchant’s charge. Why?

One of the reasons could be your online merchant (eg Uber, Booking.com) is located overseas and a cross-border fee will be charged by ePayLinks under this scenario.

What should I do if my FinPod Card is lost?

You should promptly lock your FinPod Card via FinPod App and report to us any loss, theft, disclosure or unauthorised use of your Card, PIN or Mobile Device. We recommend canceling that FinPod Card and reissuing a new one for you to protect your interests. You will be responsible for all transactions effected by the use of your FinPod Card or PIN before we receive your report.

I have a dispute on the FinPod Card transaction, what should I do?

We are sorry to hear that you have a dispute with the merchant. In the first instant, you should try to resolve any complaint against any merchant yourself directly. If you cannot resolve the dispute with the merchant, you may raise a chargeback request to ePayLinks via us by filling in the “Chargeback Application Form” in the FinPod app within 45 days after the suspicious transaction occurs. ePayLinks will process your chargeback request following their standard procedure and lead time, generally within 90 days after submitting the application. Please refer to the FAQ on ePayLinks website for the chargeback application fees.

What are the fees for using a FinPod Card?

The Card is free to use in most daily usage scenarios. Incidental charges may however be incurred under specific circumstances. For details on these situations, please refer to the Fee Schedule.
